DECATUR, Ala. -- Augusta State earned a split on the second day of the Charger Chillout, hosted by Alabama-Huntsville in Decatur, Ala.
Alabama-Huntsville's Whitney Toler earned the win with six strikeouts and just one walk as the Chargers eedged Augusta State 3-1. ASU junior Emily Headrick suffered the loss, pitching five innings. Juniors Destiny Echols and Kacee Camp each booked two hits, while junior Kristen Jones contributed one hit.
ASU bounced back with a 6-2 win over Delta State in game two Saturday afternoon. Eight Jags posted one hit, while Junior Jessica Thorton went 2-for-2 with one RBI. Junior designated hitter Senior Kacey Sims tallied one RBI, while junior Heather Hughes notched two RBI's,
Sophomore Laura Brown earned the 6-2 win, surrendering only three walks in five innings. Brown also earned one hit, driving in two runs.
The Jaguars are back in action tomorrow when they take on Northern Kentucky at 9 a.m. and then play Maryville at 11 a.m. for the final day of the UAH tournament.
