SALISBURY, N.C. -- Augusta State lost two on Friday in the first day of the Catawba Tournament. ASU was defeated by Catawba, 9-6, before falling to Glennville State 2-1 in game two.
ASU junior Heather Hughes pitched 3.2 innings and was charged with the loss. Junior Emily Headrick came in as relief for the remainder of the game.
Junior Jessica Thorton led the team with four hits and four RBI's. Senior Alyssa Pingree and junior Kacee Camp each had two hits.
In game two, Glennville State booked a 2-1 win over ASU. Sophomore Laura Brown received the loss, tallying five strikeouts.
Junior Destiny Echols went 3-for-4, while junior Kacee Camp booked two more hits, including a triple. Junior Kaitlin Harris went 2-for-3 with two doubles.
The Jags take on Kutztown at 4:00 p.m., Saturday before facing Davis & Elkins at 6:00 p.m.
