MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. –Augusta State dropped to Georgia College Thursday, March 17, in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader. The Bobcats defeated the Jags 3-2 to take the win in the final inning. ASU bounced back for game two with a 4-2 victory over the Bobcats at the Peeler Complex.

Augusta State (18-8, 1-1 PBC) entered the bottom of the seventh inning with a 2-1 lead, before Georgia College (9-26, 4-4 PBC) sparked a two run rally to steal the win. Junior Heather Hughes was on the receiving end of the loss, allowing five hits in seven innings of work.

ASU Junior Jessica Thorton had three hits in game one including two doubles. Four different Jags each recorded a hit.

ASU avoided the sweep with the Bobcats for game two, when the Jags took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth. GC answered back, plating a run in the bottom half to tie the game. The Jags rallied back to score two more runs to secure the 4-2 victory over the Bobcats.

Thorton and junior Kristen Jones each went 2-4 with a double. Senior Kacey Sims and sophomore Laura Brown each had a hit, Brown with a pair of RBI.

Junior Emily Headrick earned the win, throwing a complete game.

Augusta State is back to play Saturday, March 19, for a PBC doubleheader against the North Georgia Saints. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
