AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta State Jaguars defeated the No.4 North Georgia Saints 5-2 and 2-1 in a double header Saturday afternoon at Jaguar Field.
With the win, ASU improved to 20-8 overall and 3-1 in the PBC, while the loss dropped NGSU 26-8 overall and 2-2 in the PBC.
In game one, junior Heather Hughes earned the win, pitching a complete game allowing only two runs on four hits. Leading the Jags offensively was Jessica Thornton, Kacee Camp, and Kristen Jones who each contributed two hits. Kaitlin Harris also provided one hit and two RBI's.
In game two, junior Emily Headrick took the mound pitching a complete game allowing only one run in ten innings. She managed to strike out five saints while only walking two. Kristen Jones drove home Thorton in the bottom of the tenth inning to clinch the sweep against the Saints. Thorton also paced the Jags at the plate with two hits and one RBI.
The Jaguars are back in action Tuesday, March 22nd at 2:00 p.m. for a PBC match up against West Georgia at Jaguar Field.
