AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta State Jaguars finished off a three-game Peach Belt Conference series to the USC Aiken Pacers, Sunday afternoon at Jaguar Field. The Pacers shut down the Jaguars 4-0 on ASU's Senior Day.
The Pacers starting pitcher, lefty freshman Derek Beasley shut down the Jags for seven innings, giving up five hits with five strikeouts, walking three. Senior Jason Cochcroft earned the save, pitching the final two innings, giving up just one hit. Junior Wilson Taylor suffered the loss for the Jags.
The first run of the game wouldn't be scored until the fourth inning, when junior Stephen Carmon led off the inning with a solo homer. The Pacers scored again in the sixth and two more in the eighth inning to secure the 4-0 PBC win over the Jaguars.
Seniors Tristan Toorie, Casey Hanrahan, and Alex Walker each booked a hit for the Jaguars. Three additional Jags each had a hit in the final game of the series.
The Jaguars are on the road Tuesday to take on the Anderson Trojans in a non-conference match up. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
