AUGUSTA, Ga. – Anderson's Spencer Earle went the distance, giving up only a solo shot to Curtis Parker as the Trojans beat Augusta State 6-1 in non-conference action Thursday.
The Jaguars (8-17) managed four hits on the day, as they kept putting balls in play but right at Anderson (8-19) defenders.
The Trojans jumped on the board early, pushing two across in the first on a two-RBI single by Shawn Delmontagne with the bases loaded to take the early lead. They added a run in the second, another in the fourth, and two more in the seventh.
ASU's lone run came on Parker's blast to deep left in the seventh.
Rob Crosby took the loss for ASU, going seven innings and giving up six runs. He struck out one and walked one to fall to 0-2 on the year.
Earle (3-2) struck out five and walked two for the win.
Parker, Caleb Saggus, Kevin Dodson, and Justin Thigpen all had a hit each for Augusta State. Blake May tallied three hits, scoring twice to pace Anderson.
ASU heads to UNC Pembroke to open a three-game Peach Belt Conference set Friday, March 16 and finishing with a doubleheader Saturday, March 17. First pitch in game one is set for 7:00 p.m and can be seen at http://www.ustream.tv/uncpembroke.
