The Jags got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning before UNCP answered with a two spot in its half of the frame. ASU tied the game in the top of the second on a two-out, RBI-single from Caleb Saggus that plated Dodson.
The Braves answered with two more runs in the bottom of the second. The Jags got as close as 4-3 in the top of the fourth on Rice's leadoff homer. The Braves answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and 8-3 lead in the sixth.
Senior righthander Wilson Taylor (2-1) made his first start of the season and took the loss, allowing 10 hits and five runs in 5.0 innings. He struck out four and walked two.
