Braves Sweep ASU

PEMBROKE, N.C. -- Augusta State dropped a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader Saturday to UNC Pembroke at Sammy Cox Field.

ASU's Curtis Parker and Jeff Rice each cranked their fourth home runs of the season in the nightcap, a 9-7 setback to the Braves.

Parker, Rice, Saggus and Clay Tucker each had two hits in the loss. Junior starter Dylan Wall (0-4) took the loss and was charged with four hits and six earned runs in just 2.0 innings.

In the first game, Saggus had two of the Jags' seven hits but UNCP starter Brad Isom went the distance, striking out 11 against just one walk while allowing seven hits.

The Braves, ranked 29th in the nation, improved to 18-9 overall and 7-7 in the conference.

The Jags (8-20, 1-14 PBC) are back in action on Tuesday, March 20 vs. Newberry at 2:30 p.m., at Jaguar Field.
