Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Freshman Nichole Lyday and sophomore Hannah Vaughn's homeruns were the only Augusta State runs in day one of the Mid-South Classic, falling to North Greeneville 3-1 and Lincoln Memorial 9-1 Friday night.

The North Greeneville Crusaders earned a 3-1 victory over the Jaguars in each team's first game of the tournament. Freshman Nichole Lyday belted the first homerun of her collegiate career to left center for the Jags' only score in the tourney opener.

ASU freshman right-hander Paige Deschaine (1-5) started and pitched into the fifth inning where she struck out two in the loss. Freshman Kaleigh McNair came in to relieve, getting a strikeout to get out of the fifth.

McNair worked fast in the sixth, earning another strikeout and two groundballs, but the Jags were unable to pull anything together offensively in the seventh.

The Lincoln Memorial Railsplitter's defeated ASU 9-1 in six innings, with Vaughn's homer representing the Jags offense.

ASU meets Ohio Dominican at 10:00 a.m. and King (Tenn.) at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow in the final day of the Mid-South Classic
