AUGUSTA, Ga., – The GRU Augusta Jaguars (7-1) beat the Bowie State Bulldogs (5-3) 83-54 in a non-conference game at A.C. Jordan Arena in Bowie, Md., on Saturday afternoon. Four Jaguars scored in double figures and a hot-shooting start and 14 second-chance points saw the Jaguars secure a lead that they kept for the almost the entire game.

Saturday's win was the largest margin of victory the Jaguars have had against the Bulldogs in all four meetings. Jaguar senior-trio D'Angelo Boyce, Devonte Thomas, and Devon Wright-Nelson, along with sophomore Mike Graham and freshman Kelvin Howard all returned back towards their hometowns, as the five players grew up within an hour of Bowie State.

The Jaguars got off to a quick 8-4 start in the first half thanks to a pair of Devonte Thomas three-pointers. Cobzaru also helped the Jags early - scoring five points in the first 2:50 of play.  A pair of Devon Wright-Nelson three's gave the Jaguars their biggest lead at the time 17-10 in the first half. The Bulldogs fought back, but once again a pair of three pointers this time from Boyce put the Jags up ten at 27-17.  GRU would maintain that ten-point lead into the locker room for halftime. GRU Augusta shot 50 percent from both the field and beyond the three-point line in the first half. Boyce led the way for GRU in the first half with 12 points.

In the second half, Devon Wright-Nelson scored six of the first eight points of the half for a 55-39 score. Later in the second half Keshun Sherrill hit a three pointer giving the Jags a 26-point lead with just six minutes left in the game. With about a minute left in the game Michael Graham came in off the bench and hit a jumper giving the Jaguars their largest lead of the night at 28 points, 80-52. Kelvin Howard entered off the bench and hit a three pointer with just five seconds remaining and assuring the Jaguars an 83-54 victory.

Boyce scored his season-high 15 points, along with four rebounds, five assists and one steal. Wright-Nelson had 15 points, three rebounds, and four assists, and Devonte Thomas who had 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
