Box Score DUE WEST, S.C. – In the second of four meetings with Erskine, the Jaguars fell 13-0 on Friday afternoon with the Flying Fleet totaling 20 hits off seven Jaguar pitchers at Grier Field.
Erskine (11-2) started the game with an Andrew Kozak double followed by back-to-back singles. The fleet took a 2-0 lead off GRU (5-11) senior starter Kip Custer and built a 5-0 lead after the third. Custer (2-3) tossed 3.0 innings to allow 10 hits for seven runs (six earned). Sophomore David Bermudez recorded 1.1 innings of work after Custer, but the Fleet tacked on two more runs on three hits. Will Robertson, Tristan Jones, Jamie Suggs, Trey McAvoy and Mitchell Szwec relieved in the game, but Erskine's offense poured on the offense to take a 13-0 win.
Erskine's Zach McCallister went 7.0 innings to allow five hits with three strikeouts. The Jags only had four strikeouts in the game, but were outhit 20-to-6 in the loss. Destin Nichols hit three homeruns in the game to help boost the Fleet.
Sophomore Hunter Boose went 2-for-4, while seniors JD Sabo, Jeff Rice, Ross Miles, and sophomore Connor Gilbert all had one hit. GRU hosts Lindenwood University on Sunday, March 2 for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
