DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Jaguars took an early 4-0 lead in game three at North Georgia and held off a Nighthawks comeback to seal a 5-4 Peach Belt Conference win Sunday afternoon at Bob Stein Stadium.

JD Sabo leadoff the series-decider for the Jags (10-12, 3-6 PBC) with a single to left field and advanced in the next at-bat on a failed pickoff attempt. With a man on second, the Nighthawks (10-7, 2-3 PBC) intentionally walked Jeff Rice to set up the infield force out, after Rice totaled four hits in yesterday's series-opening doubleheader split. A UNG error put Ryan Khan on and scored Sabo and Rice who advanced on a passed ball in a previous pitch.

The Jags comforted their lead in the third when they added two more – starting with another Sabo leadoff single to left. Tyler Roberts sacrificed himself to move Sabo to third and bring up Rice. UNG intentionally put Rice on base again, but Connor Gilbert and Khan foiled their strategy as they slapped two-straight singles to center field for a 4-0 advantage.

GRU starter Frank Warren gave up a leadoff home run in the sixth for the first Nighthawk run of the day which sparked a minor UNG comeback as they cut it to 5-4. The Jags tossed three relievers after Warren's 5.2 innings of work, with Tyler Brown closing it out to keep the Jags on top 5-4 while recording his first save.

Sabo went 3-for-3 in the leadoff role, while Gilbert and Khan each went 2-for-5 in the win. Warren (3-1) earned the win for GRU, giving up six hits for one run, while Taylor (0-2) wore the loss after his 4.0 innings where he gave up four hits for four runs.

The Jags host Erskine in a non-conference game this Tuesday, March 11 for a 2:00 p.m. single game at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
