Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. – The GRU Augusta Jaguars matched the Valdosta State Blazers with 12 hits and took an early lead on Wednesday afternoon, but couldn't produce the timely hit in a 6-2 non-conference loss on the road.
The Jags moved to 8-13 overall on the year with the loss. The Jaguars had 12 hits to match the Blazers and had two errors to VSU's four, but GRU left 14 men on base in the game.
Nick Rau had an RBI-double to score
Hunter Boose for 1-0 lead, but the Blazers battled to score back-to-back runs in the second and third that they wouldn't relinquish.
Lefty Frank Warren made the mid-week start at Valdosta and went 3.1 innings to allow six hits for four runs (two earned). Right-hander David Bermudez relieved first in 1.2 innings to allow three hits for no damage before Matthew Kuhlenberg, Hunter Boose, and Nick Rau all pitched one innings.
Freshman Gage Patton was 3-4 in the leadoff role with an RBI and a walk, while Connor Gilbert had a 3- day and Rau was 2-5 with an RBI.
The Jaguars host Armstrong for a three-game series this weekend, Friday-Saturday March 20-21. The Friday night game at 6:00 p.m. is a ZTA Pink Out and Saturday is slated a Letterman's day. Read more about it by CLICKING HERE
