AIKEN, S.C. – After scoring four to take the lead in the sixth inning, the Jaguars couldn't stop the late offensive surge of the USC Aiken Pacers to fall 10-4 in game three of the Peach Belt Conference series at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

GRU Augusta (14-23, 7-14 PBC) fell in the first meetings of the series in two close games, dropping game one 13-10 and the second 4-3. The Jags knocked 15 hits in game one on Friday night and outhit the Pacers (27-13, 16-11 PBC) 10-9 in game two on Saturday.

The Jags sent David Hagelston to the mound to start the day in game three. The right-handed freshman gave up three runs on five hits in two innings of work before being relieved by sophomore righty Tyler Brown. Brown pitched 4.1 innings in relief, allowing five hits and three runs. 

The Jags brought some excitement to the game in the top of the sixth inning. Drew Taylor reached first on an error and Connor Gilbert was hit by a pitch. Cole Thompson (1-4; RBI) and Hunter Boose (2-4; RBI) both singled to right field to plate runs. Tyler Roberts (2-4; RBI) laid down a SAC bunt for an RBI, followed by another single to right field by Kevin Dodson (1-2; RBI) for the go-ahead RBI as the Jags took a 4-3 lead.

The Pacers (27-13; 16-11 PBC) brought the tying run home in the bottom of the sixth, plated three more in the seventh and a final run in the eighth to win the game 10-4 and sweep the series.

GRU plays a Peach Belt Conference series at Columbus State April 17-18, beginning with game one on Friday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m., with the Cougars.
