Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. – Winning game one 8-7 behind Clint Hardy's 10th-inning, walk-off homerun and taking game two 4-0 backed by Matthew Kuhlenberg's complete-game, shut-out win on the mound, the Jaguars couldn't take game three as UNC Pembroke avoided the conference-series sweep with a 7-5 win over GRU Augusta on Sunday for 2015 Senior Day.
Scoring one in each of the first and second innings, the Braves (36-12; 19-11 PBC) jumped out to a quick lead, adding two runs in the third and one more in the fourth.
Junior lefty Frank Warren pitched 1.1 innings, striking out one and giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits before being relieved by right-handed sophomore Tyler Brown. Brown tossed 3.2 innings of work, allowing six hits and two earned runs.
The Jags (17-26, 10-16 PBC) got on the board in the fifth inning as Bradley Dennis reached on an error before Clint Hardy (3-5; RBI) and Drew Taylor (2-4; RBI) both knocked doubles to center field, scoring two. Hunter Boose (2-5; RBI) singled to left field to plate Taylor to cut the deficit.
David Hagelston and Adam Grice closed out the game for the Jags on the mound, throwing 2.2 and 1.1 innings, respectively, and both holding the Braves scoreless.
In the seventh inning, the Jags cut the lead to three on Nick Rau's (2-5; two-RBI; HR) third homer and 30th RBI of the season. They scored a final run in the ninth when Hardy doubled down the left field line and scored on a single by Rau, but they weren't able to bring anything else across to drop the affair 7-5.
