Box Score 2 AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta Jaguars outscored the Anderson Trojans 21-9 in a pair of non-conference victories on Saturday afternoon in Lake Olmstead Stadium. The Jags knocked 17 hits for a 17-6 game-one win and won a close game-two 4-3 with an eighth-inning comeback.
The Jags (6-1) host Anderson (1-3) on Sunday, Feb. 14 to wrap the series with a 1:00 p.m. single game at Lake Olmstead.
Hosting their first doubleheader of the season, Augusta had a 12-0 lead after the first two innings of game one and built an eventual 17-6 lead for the early win.
Senior Nick Rau posted a 3-3 day with three runs, three RBI, and a walk. Senior Hunter Boose and junior Clint Hardy each went 3-5 in game one. Boose had four RBI and three runs and Hardy two runs and an RBI. Sophomore Cole Janousek was 2-5 with two runs and an RBI as well.
Junior righty Tristan Jones (2-0) struck out two and gave up three runs on two in his 6.0 innings to start the day for the Jags on the mound. Zach Ledbetter, Chase Slone and Will Robertson each made appearances to close out game one. Ledbetter and Robertson struck out two and Slone one while Jones picked up the victory.
Game two was a closer affair with the Trojans taking their first lead on a solo homer off Augusta game-two starter Will Thompson. Junior Tyler Robertson scored two in the second inning with a go-ahead single for a 2-1 swing.
Anderson tacked on two more in fourth to steal back the lead, but the Jags scored two more in the eighth inning on two hits and an error for a 4-3 lead.
Junior right-handed transfer Joey Stillwell (2-0) came in to relieve Thompson and only gave up one hit in his 2.0 innings on the mound to get his second win of the year.
Senior Conner Gilbert went 2-3 with an eighth inning RBI and a scored run, junior Cole Janousek was 3-4 and sophomore Brent Alford 2-4.
The Jags host Anderson on Sunday, Feb. 14 for a Valentine's Day matchup at 1:00 p.m. to wrap the series at 1:00 p.m. in LOS.
