AUGUSTA, Ga. – Hosting the third game of the non-conference series with the Anderson Trojans, the Augusta Jaguars fell 6-2 on Sunday at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

The Augusta Jaguars (6-2) outscored the Anderson Trojans (2-3) 21-9 in a pair of non-conference victories on Saturday afternoon and fell in the series finale after posting three hits to the Trojans' 10.

Senior David Bermudez (1-2) made his third start of the season for the Jags and sat down the first three batters he faced in the first inning. The Trojans put up three runs in the second and third – sparked by Garrett Bernardo's two doubles to take a 6-0 advantage. They totaled 10 hits on the day.

Bermudez pitched 2.1 innings before freshman Aron Chick struck out two in his 3.2 innings to allow four hits for one run. Senior CJ Reed also relieved in 2.2 innings, striking out a pair before sophomore slinger David Hagelston closed it out.

Down 6-0 in the third, Augusta found their first hit when junior Tyler Roberts doubled to start the inning. Anderson starter Chris Ayers struck out the final batter of the inning to keep the shutout intact.

Chris Ayers (1-0) struck out seven in 5.0 innings on the mound for the Trojans, before Evan Small came in the sixth and gave up the first run.

Senior Hunter Boose led off the sixth with a single to left field and scored on a fielder's choice off the bat off senior Conner Gilbert. Freshman Lawson Dunkin made it a 6-2 game when he scored on a grounder to the right side.

Roberts, senior Cole Thompson, and senior Hunter Boose each recorded a hit for Augusta's three on the day, while senior Nick Rau drew three walks in the loss. The Jags left eight men on base to Anderson's six.

Augusta hosts Paine College on Wednesday, Feb. 17 for a 4:00 p.m. single non-conference at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
