  • Augusta vs. Queens: L, 5-2
  • Augusta vs. Catawba: W, 2-1

The Jags split day one with Saint Joseph's College (Ind.) and Southern Indiana and fell to Queens before taking care of Catawba in day two.

Sophomore Carolyn Edwards hit her second home run in two days with a three-run blast to lift the Jags early over Lincoln Memorial in the first inning of game one. Augusta plated another on a wild pitch before junior Kristen Mills drove in sophomore Erin Holcomb and senior Kristen Bagley for a 6-0 lead in the first inning.

Starting on the mound for the Jags, Mills gave up two runs to LMU on a single and a wild pitch in the bottom of the first. After the Jags' six early runs, the scoring was all from LMU who made it a 6-5 game with a solo run in the third, fourth, and sixth.

Mills pitched 2.2 innings and gave up six hits for three runs while striking out two in her 14 batters faced. Senior Paige Deschaine recorded 4.1 innings on the mound and struck out six while allowing two runs in the win.

The Jaguars faced Wingate in their second game of the day and the Bulldogs struck early. In the bottom of the first the Bulldogs capitalized with runners on first and third with an RBI single to give Wingate a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the fourth another RBI single with two runners on, gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 final lead.

Wingate's pitching was dominant in the game, keeping Augusta hitless through five innings. Junior Brianna Dickens finally ended the no-hitter that WU had going in the top of the sixth with a single to center, but unfortunately nothing more would come from it. Dickens' hit would be the only on the day for the Jaguars.

Freshman Emily Hittinger pitched all six innings for Augusta, giving up seven hits and one earned run. Wingate's Stacey Houser pitched a full game and allowed one hit while striking out five in the win.

Peach Belt Conference play commences for the Jaguars with a trip to Georgia College on Tuesday, March 1 for a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader in Milledgeville, Ga.
