Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Jaguars (8-19, 0-3 PBC) hosted their first PBC series of the season with Georgia Southwestern (15-10, 1-0 PBC) and dropped a game one in extra innings 3-2 before falling in the second meeting 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at Jaguar Field.

The Jaguars led first in both games of the double feature, but couldn't hold off the Hurricanes' offense late in each contest.

Jaguar senior righty Paige Deschaine (4-6) struck out the side in her first inning of work on the mound in game one. Making her seventh start, Deschaine recorded a career-high 19 strikeouts in the loss – surpassing her previous best mark of 16 which he had twice. She pitched 9.0 innings and allowed eight hits for three runs on the day. She's ranked third in the PBC in punch outs.

Deschaine struck out her 10th batter to end the top of the fourth inning and keep a tie game intact until Augusta scored first.

Brittany Childs (4-2), the GSW game-one pitcher, had the Jags scoreless into the fifth when junior Brianna Dickens blasted a first-pitch homer to center field to begin the inning.

The Canes carded two runs in the sixth to steal a one-run lead off a single and double from the top of their lineup, but Dickens answered again in the sixth with an RBI sacrifice fly ball that scored Bagley to tie the game and force extra innings.

A solo homer from Bri Lewis lifted the Canes ahead and they held on for a 3-2 lead in the ninth.

Bagley was 3-4 for Augusta in game one, Benton was 2-4, and Dickens 1-3 with two RBI.

In game two, Augusta struck first on Bagley's RBI double in the gap that plated senior Casey Rowland. An opposite-field single from Hayley Tierce gave GSW a 2-1 lead in the fifth, but Jags sophomore Carolyn Edwards tied the game with a liner to center for a 2-2 contest

The tie didn't last as the Canes knocked a solo homer to center field for a 3-2 advantage in the next inning and grabbed an insurance run in the seventh for a 4-3 game-two win.

The Jags matched seven hits in game two and put up seven to GSW's eight in game one.

Augusta travels to Young Harris for PBC doubleheader on Wednesday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m. in Young Harris, Ga.
