Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Trailing by five runs after two innings at Flagler College, the Augusta Jaguars put together seven unanswered for a 7-5 comeback win that snapped Flagler's 10 game win streak on Friday night.
After lightning and stormy weather delayed the scheduled first pitch for over an hour, the series commenced with a soggy opening game where the Jags (21-11, 12-5 PBC) and Flagler Saints (18-12, 7-9 PBC) each matched nine hits.
Flagler jumped to a 5-0 lead on Augusta starter Tristan Jones with four runs in the first and one in the second.
Jags senior Drew Taylor hit his fifth home run of the season in the third inning and scored senior Hunter Boose and junior Clint Hardy for a 5-3 game.
In the fourth, junior Jamal Cummings drew a four-pitch walk and stole second for Augusta. Boose carded his first RBI with a single to center field and he scored Hardy and Cummings again in the seventh with a bases-clearing double. Boose scored on a throwing error to steal a 7-5 lead that the Jags never let go.
Boose went 3-4 with three RBI and two runs, Taylor picked up three RBI with the long ball, and senior Conner Gilbert was 2-4.
Jags junior Tristan Jones settled in after allowing the early five runs and struck out three in his 6.1 innings. Jones gave up seven hits for five runs in his ninth start. Senior lefty Frank Warren picked up his third save of the year with 2.2 innings of work he only allowed two hits.
Flagler's Mike O'Reilly went 6.2 innings and struck out six while giving up six hits for six runs (four earned).
