Box Score 2 ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Augusta University baseball team won in extra innings against conference opponent Flagler. After finishing the 9th inning tied 1-1, The Jags were able to score twice in the top of the 11th inning to force the victory. The game marks the first in a three game series between the Saints and the Jaguars.
Augusta, (4-10, 2-5 PBC) and Flagler (10-6, 3-5) PBC both had 5 hits on the day.
The Saints struck first with a run in the second inning. Both teams remained scoreless until Augusta junior Trent Maddox score on a wild pitch. A single by junior Mason Robertson at the top of the 11th inning allowed both Rylan Laird and Maddox to score.
Trent Maddox and Ben Markewicz both went 2-for-5 on the day. Maddox also carded 2 runs. Mason Robertson went 1-for-5 and had 2 RBI on the day. Rylan Laird went 1-for-1 and carded 1 run.
Freshman Will Cantrell started on the mound for the Jags and tossed for 8 innings. He struck out 8 batters while only allowing 1 run. Sophomore Chase Horton (2-1) entered the pitching rotation in the 9th inning and closed out the match. He only allowed 1 hit.
The Jaguars play Flagler for game two on the series on Saturday February 29th at 2:00pm.
