Box Score 2 ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Augusta University baseball team dropped the second in a three-game series to Flagler College Saturday afternoon. The Jags move to 4-11 (2-6 in the Peach Conference) while Flagler moves to 11-6(3-5 in the Peach Belt)
The Saints outhit the Jags 10 to 6 on the day.
Designated hitter Theron Powell went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI. Centerfielder Skylor Murphy went 2-for-4 with 1 run and 1 RBI. Trent Maddox went 1-for-4 and carded 1 run. Brian Smith sent 1-for-2 and added 1 run.
Jags junior Hunter Norman 5th start for the Jags and surrendered three runs in the 1st inning before Augusta answered in the 6th inning. Norman struck out 5 batters and allowed 5 hits. Senior Aaron Chick came out of the bull pen for 2.0 innings. He allowed 5 hits and 5 runs.
A Theron Powell single to right field at the top of the 1st inning allowed Skylor Murphy to score. While the Jags struck first, the Saints answered with three runs of their own during the first inning.
A sacrifice fly by junior Mason Robertson allowed Trent Maddox to score in 6th innings. A Skylor Murphy single to left field allowed Brian Smith to give the Jags another run in the 7th.
A double by Flagler's Aaron Anderson allowed three runs and the eventual score of 3-8. The Jaguar defeat evens the series 1-1. The final game of the series will be played on Sunday March 1st at 12:00pm.
