Box Score 2 The Augusta University Baseball team lost the first game of their three-game series against the Georgia College Bobcats on Saturday afternoon, 9-0. The Jags fell to 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in the Peach belt Conference. The Bobcats improved to 5-0 on the season overall and 1-0 in Peach Belt Conference play.
The Jags found themselves down from the start as the Bobcats scored four runs in the first inning. The Bobcats added five more runs in the 9th inning.
The Jags were only able to accumulate four hits on the afternoon. Third baseman Ben Markiewicz led the way for the Jags as he went two-for-three with a double.
Aron Chick got the start on the mound for Augusta. He threw six innings, giving up four runs on nine hits, while striking out three hitters. Austin Heard came in and threw two innings and gave up five runs on five hits. Ethan Dodd also saw action for the Jags today and threw a scoreless frame while allowing one hit.
The Jaguars are back tomorrow for a doubleheader against the Bobcats. The start of Game 2 is at 10:00 a.m., with the series finale expected to start at 1:00 p.m.
