Box Score 3 GAME 1: The Augusta University Baseball team lost the first game of their doubleheader to the Georgia College Bobcats, 10-7, Sunday afternoon. The Jags fall to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in Peach Belt Conference play. The Bobcats improved to 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Peach Belt Conference.
Game 2 started much like the first game of the series. After the first two innings, the Jags found themselves down 7-0. Centerfielder Skylor Murphy led the team going three-for-five with two runs scored. Theron Powell added two hits of his own to go along with his one RBI and one run scored.
This was a high scoring game as the Jags battled. Augusta scored 6 runs in the 8th inning. After ending the 8th inning up 9-7, the Bobcats scored in the top of the 9th inning to make it a 3 run lead and an eventual final score of 10-7.
GAME 2: The Jags lost the second game of the doubleheader, 22-6, on Sunday afternoon to the Georgia College Bobcats. The Jags fall to 0-6 on the year and 0-3 in the Peach Belt Conference. The Georgia College Bobcats improve their record to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
John Micah Law got the start as he went 4.1 innings, giving up three runs on five hits, and striking out two. Chase Horton came in and threw three frames, giving up six runs on eight hits.
Leading the way on offense was right fielder Carrington Evans. Evans hit a double and a home run to go with his 3 RBI's. Leftfielder Theron Powell added two hits of his own to go along with one run scored. Third baseman Ben Markiewicz also went two-for-four while adding 2 RBI's and one run scored.
Augusta University hits the road traveling to Anderson, S.C. taking on Saginaw Valley State University on Friday, February 14 at 3:00 p.m.
