Box Score 2 ST. AUGUSTINE, Fl – The Augusta University baseball team fell 12-2 to the Flagler College Saints Sunday afternoon in the Peach Belt Conference series finale at Drysdale Field.
Augusta moves to 4-12 on the season and 2-7 in the PBC. The Saints are 12-6 and 4-5 in the PBC.
Senior Brian Smith was 1-for-3 with one RBI. Juniors Skylor Murphy and Trent Maddox were both 2-for-5 on the day. Right fielder Carrington Evans was 2-for-3, adding 1RBU. Shortstop Mason Robertson and Theron Powell each carded one of the Jags two runs for the afternoon.
High-efficiency 2nd and 3rd innings propelled Flagler to an early 12-0 lead. Offensively, the Saints were led by centerfielder Adam Mitchell. A single to left field by Carrington Evans in the 6th put Augusta on the board. An added score by Mason Roberston at the top of the 8th wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit.
Augusta saw four different pitchers enter the Sunday contest. Sophomore John Micah Law started on the mound for the Jags. After pitching 2.1 innings and sticking out 2 hitters, Law was replaced by Alex Colon for 0.1 innings and eventually Rylan Laird. Laird pitched for 4.1 innings in which he only allowed 3 hits. Austin Heard finished on the mound for Augusta, striking out 2 hitters.
The Jaguar Baseball team returns home on Wednesday, Feb 4th for 1 2:00 non-conference match-up against Saint Rose.
