Box Score 2 AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University baseball team fell 9-5 to the Columbus State Cougars on Sunday Afternoon at Jaguar Field in the third and final game of the PBC series.
Augusta (4-15, 2-10 PBC) was led by sophomore John Paul who went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI and Ben Markiewicz who went 1-for-4 with 3RBI for the day. The Jaguars totaled six hits, but the Cougars 17-3, 11-1 PBC) posted 16 in the game.
AU allowed a solo run in the first inning, took a commanding 5-1 lead in the second. A sacrifice fly by John Paul allowed Mason Robertson to score. A single by Garett Suiter and a double by sophomore Ben Markiewicz in the bottom of the second inning spurred the scoring run for the Jags. The Cougars answered with a three run homer and a single homer which led to the eventual 9-5 defeat for Augusta.
Augusta sophomore John Micah Law gave up 10 hits in 6.0 innings and allowed 5 runs. Austin Heard, Alex Colon, and Ethan Dodd all pitched in relief for AU
The Jaguars are back at home on Wednesday March 11th at 2:00pm against non-conference opponent Mars Hill.
