Box Score 2 AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University softball team hosted the Wingate Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon at Jaguar Field and split the non-conference doubleheader. Augusta dropped the first 0-2 in extra innings before winning the second 4-1.
The Jaguars are 2-4 overall, while Wingate moved to 2-2 on the 2021 season. Augusta is scheduled to host Anderson this Friday Feb 12th in a 1:00 p.m. non-conference doubleheader.
The Bulldogs etched two runs in the 8th after the game was scoreless for the regulation 8 innings. Wingate's Manesss homered in the top of the 8th after having going the game without a hit.
Augusta tallied three hits in the game while the Bulldogs tallied 4.
Mary Tillman made her third appearance on the mound and pitched a complete game. Tillman (0-2) struck out 5 batters. Madelyn Libby, Aliyah Luke, and Lindsey South all went 1-for-3 in the contest.
Augusta started game 2 on top early, with a double from Aminah Wood allowing Lauren Slade in to score. The Bulldogs answered with a run in the top of the 5th, but Jaguars quickly responded with a three run 5th inning. A double by Slade and a single by Madelyn Libby allowed for 3 runs in quick succession.
Chloe Wilson (1-1) pitched 7 innings on the mound for Augusta and gave up 4 hits for 1 run.
