Box Score 2 HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Augusta University softball notched their first win of the season while on the road at Coker University. After dropping the first game of the double header, the Jaguars put up a dominant 8-0 performance. AU moves to 1-3 on the season while the Cobras are now 1-1.
Game 1
The contest was a pitcher's duel, with the teams combining for seven hits and just two runs. Augusta trailed early when Coker launched a solo home run in the first inning. The Cobras scored another in the fourth and survived the Jaguars for the game-one victory.
AU freshman Aminah Wood had two hits, but the Jags couldn't compile the timely hits and fell by two runs. Wood was 2-for-2. Jakayla Sullivan had the only other hit of the game for the Jaguars.
Freshman Mary Tillman (0-1) hurled all six innings for the Jags and struck out ten batters, while only surrendering four hits for two runs.
Game 2
Augusta showed up ready in game one and scored one in the first and three in the second before scoring another 4 runs to close the game. Jakayla Sullivan in Madelyn Libby on an RBI single to the in the first inning. Bella Fernandez scored on an error and Lauren Slade grounded out to allow Aliyah Luke to score in the second. Lauren Slade scored in the 4th while Madelyn Libby and Jakayla Sullivan scored in the sixth.
Nine Jaguars carded hits in the game. Aminah Wood was 3-for-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run. Olivia Biles was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs. Jakayla Sullivan was 2-for-4 with 1 RBI and 2 runs.
Chloe Wilson (1-0) tossed all 7 innings and struck out twelve batters. She held Coker scoreless with only three hits,
The AU defense made zero errors, while the offense had 13 hits to Coker's three.
