Box Score 2 AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University softball team travel to Greenwood, South Carolina to take on Lander University on Sunday, winning game 1 before dropping the second game of the double header.
Augusta is now 14-20 overall and 8-8 in the Peach Belt, while Lander is now 14-14 and 1-9 in the league.
The Jags host Flagler on Saturday at noon at Jaguar Field for a PBC Doubleheader. The series will mark their Senior Day.
GAME 1
Augusta carded 10 hits to Lander's 6 in the opening game of the series. Lander got on the board first with a single run in the second inning. Summer Frye hit an answering 2-run homer in the third inning to put the Jags up a score. Lander evened the score in the bottom of the third, however a homer by Emma Seagrave put the Jags back on top. Home runs by both Bella Fernandez and Jakayla Sullivan in the same inning extended the score to 5-2. To cap the scoring, Lindsey South hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field that allowed Aliyah Luke to score and give AU the 6-2 victory.
Leading the Jaguars, Emma Seagrave was 3-for-4 with 1 run and 1 RBI. Olivia Biles was 2-for-3 with a run and Summer Frye was 2-for-4 with 1 run and 2 RBI. Jakayla Sullivan, Lindsey South, and Bella Fernandez all carded a single run in the game.
Mary Tillman (7-8) pitched all seven innings for the Jags and struck out six, while surrendering six hits for two runs.
GAME 2
Augusta was unable to cool the hot bats of the Bearcats in game 2, falling 11-1. A 1 RBI single by Olivia Biles led to the only Augusta score of the game.
Biles was 2-for-3 with 1 RBI. Jakayla Sullivan, Lindsey South, and Aminah Wood were all 1-for-3.
Chloe Wilson started on the mound for Augusta, throwing 2 innings before being replaced by Kelsey Parks.
