Box Score 3 AUGUSTA, Ga - The Augusta University Jaguars swept Claflin at Jaguar Field for their final home Peach Belt Conference Series Friday and Saturday.
GAME 1
Augusta scored the first of its ten runs in the first inning off of a single by senior Trent Maddox. Claflin answered with homers in the second and third innings to push the score to 4-1. After a 2 RBI single by Skylor Murphy in the bottom of the third inning, scores off of a Paxton Tolleson double and another SKylor Murphy single puhed the score to 4-5. Still in the fifth inning, Trent Maddox hit a single that drove Murphy home. Mason Roberson doubled to push Jose Nogueras and Harrison Aulds home. Mason Roberston scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning and Harrison Aulds doubled to put Maddox over home plate in the eighth inning for a final score of 10-4.
Trent Maddox was 3-for-5 with 11 RBI and 2 runs. Harrison Aulds was 3-for-5 with 1 RBI and 1 run. Mason Roberston, Paxton Tolleson, and Skylor Murphy all carded two hits. Walker Sinclair, Ben Mariewicz, and Trevor Maddox all had single hits in the contest.
Will Cantrell (1-5) pitched a complete game, allowing 2 hits and striking out 8 batters
GAME 2
After acknowledging their seniors for Senior Day, the Jaguars blew game 2 open, scoring six runs in the first inning. Skylor Murphy started the team off with a 2 RBI double before Harrison Aulds hit a sacrifice fly to allow Trent Maddox to score. After Murphy scored on a throwing error, Maddox singled to right field carding another score. Jose Nogueras scored off of an error, Maddox scored off a passed ball in the fourth inning. Ben Markiewicz hit a sacrifice fly to put Roberston home in the fourth inning. The visiting team hit a 3 run homer in the fifth inning, but a 1 RBI single by Lukas Coker in the 7th inning capped the score at 9-3.
Six different Jaguars each tallied a single hit in the contest.
Brian Trepanier (1-7) pitched first on the mound, allowing 7 hits and striking out 5 batters. He was replaced by Ryder Willard who pitched for the final two innings
GAME 3
Game 3 proved to be a high scoring rally, with Augusta prevailing 15-13.
Highlighting the offensive effort was Mason Robertson, who was 4-for-5 with 1 RBI and 2 runs. Skylor Murphy was also efficient, going 3-for-5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs. Lukas Coker was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs. Ben Markiewicz, Harrison Aulds, Jose Nogueras and Theron Powell each had a single hit in the matchup.
Noah Fritz started on the mound for AU. Fritz allowed 6 hits and 4 runs in his 3 innings of work. Chase Horton, Jasper Dubberly, Cotton Phillips, and Benjamin Koch all pitched in relied for the Jaguars.
Augusta travels to Georgia College Friday and Saturday for a three game Peach Belt Conference Series.
