Box Score 3 AUGUSTA, Ga – To close the 2021 season, Young Harris swept the visiting Augusta Jaguar baseball team on Friday and Saturday.
Augusta finishes 8-28, 7-26 in the Peach Belt Conference while Young Harris improves to 22-16, 20-13 in the PBC. The Jaguars will cap their athletic year with the 2021 William Sherrill Athletic Awards on Tuesday at 5pm.
GAME 1
Young Harris held Augusta scoreless in the first game of the three game series.
Trent Maddox was 2-for-3 for the night. Mason Robertson, Walker Sinclair, and Skylor Murphy all carded a single hit.
Will Cantrell (1-6) started on the mound for AU, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing 8 hits. He was replaced by Ryder Willard and eventually Cotton Phillips who each gave up a single run. Young Harris' Chad Brown pitched an impressive complete game, allowing 5 hits in 9 innings.

GAME 2
The home team jumped out to an early lead, after scoring two runs in the opening inning. The Jaguars opened their scoring in the fourth inning with a double by Trent Maddox that led to a single score. AU struck again the fifth with single run homers by Paxton Tolleson and Harrison Aulds. Ben Markiewicz singled to left field pushing Trevor Maddox home and bringing the score to 4-10.
A sacrifice fly in the seventh inning by Markiewicz sent Mason Robertson in for the score. A two-run homer in the same inning tightened the score, but the Jags eventually fell 13-6 to the Mountain Lions.
Ben Markiewicz was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and 1 run. Trent Maddox was 2-for-5 with 3 RBI and 1 run. Mason Robertson, Walker Sinclair, and Paxton Tolleson all had 2 hits.
Brian Trepanier (1-8) pitched first on the mound, allowing 4 hits and 6 runs. He was replaced by Chase Horton who struck out 2 batters in his 5.2 innings of work. Trevor Gordon closed out the last 0.2 innings for AU.
GAME 3
Augusta opened the scoring in the first inning off of a single by Trent Maddox. Young Harris answered with a 5-run second inning. The Jags added two the score after Maddox hit a home run in the third. A single by Harrison Aulds pushed the Jaguar score to 4, but the visiting squad fell 12-4 in the final game of the series.
Trent Maddox led the offensive effort, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs. Noah Fritz opened the game pitching. After 1.1 innings, Cotton Phillips took the mound for 4.2 innings while striking out two batters. Bejamin Koch, Jasper Dubberly, and Ryder Willard all pitched in relief.
