AUGUSTA, GA – Senior volleyball player Sophia Kruczko has been named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-American, as announced on Wednesday.
"It is a great way to cap off Sophia's volleyball career!" said head coach Sharon Quarles. "This year Sophia handled all aspects of the game masterfully from embracing the strength and conditioning component, practices (managing the number of swings) and most importantly in game situations managing and utilizing shots while knowing when to push and also when the need arose to back off. All of this being said, it allowed her to be able to perform at a high level the entire season. All- American Honorable Mention honors is a great accomplishment for Sophia. Well deserved!"
Kruczko, a 6-foot-3 right-side hitter from Cary, North Carolina, earned her first All-America honor following a standout senior season. Earlier this year, she was named to the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) All-Conference Team and earned AVA All-Region honors. This season, Kruczko has been a key contributor ranking eighth in the PBC for kills with 2.25 kills per set and 2.62 points per set. She played in every match this season and continued to display her consistent offensive performance, helping lead the Jaguars to a 21-8 overall record.
