HICKORY, N.C. – Augusta softball continued their strong weekend at the LR Bear Bash, defeating tournament host Lenoir-Rhyne 7-3 on Sunday night behind a 13-hit performance and a complete-game effort from Ansley Gibson (4-2).

Augusta jumped ahead in the first inning when Ayellad Howard worked a leadoff walk and later scored on a two-out RBI single from Ansley Gibson. The Jaguars added two more runs in the second after Cadance Winder walked, and Kaylynn Scaffe ripped an RBI double down the right field line. Scaffe then scored on an error to make it 3-0.

Lenoir-Rhyne cut into the lead with a two-run home run in the third, but Augusta responded immediately in the fourth. Winder singled to lead off the inning, and Scaffe reached on an error before Nevaeh Ross moved both runners over with a sacrifice bunt. Howard then plated Winder on a sacrifice fly, pushing the lead to 4-2.

After Lenoir-Rhyne made it a one-run game in the fifth, Augusta's offense came alive again in the final two innings. In the sixth, Ross singled and later scored on a base hit from Bobbi Poff, extending the lead to 5-3. The Jaguars put the game away in the seventh when Payton Terrell doubled and scored on a Winder single, followed by Scaffe's second double of the night, driving in two more runs.

Gibson (4-2) went the distance, tossing a complete game while allowing just three runs on three hits with five strikeouts. At the plate, Scaffe led the way with two doubles and three RBIs, while Winder and Gibson each recorded two hits.

In Game 2, Augusta's bats stayed hot, putting up 11 runs on 12 hits in a five-inning run-rule victory over Assumption. The Greyhounds took an early 1-0 lead, but the Jaguars responded quickly in the second when Kelsea Moody singled, Winder doubled, and Nevaeh Ross lined a two-run single up the middle to put Augusta ahead.

A five-run third inning broke the game open. Poff led off with a strikeout but reached first on a dropped third strike, setting up Bailee Roberts and Moody, who both reached base. Terrell then delivered a clutch two-run single to left, and Scaffe followed with an RBI single of her own. Ross capped off the frame with another two-run hit to make it 7-1.

The Jaguars added three more in the fourth as Roberts launched a two-run home run to right, followed by Moody's solo homer to left center. Augusta ended the game in the fifth after Ross reached on an error and scored on Poff's infield single.

Turner (4-2) picked up the win in the circle, tossing five innings and allowing three runs on four hits with five strikeouts.
