AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University softball dropped both games of a Friday doubleheader to No. 4 North Georgia at Jaguar Field. The Jaguars fell 6-3 in 11 innings in the opener and 6-0 in game two. With the results, Augusta moves to 25-25 overall and remains 5-13 in Peach Belt Conference play.

Game 1: North Georgia 6, Augusta 3 (11 innings)

Augusta took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run by Bailee Roberts, her second of the season. North Georgia tied the game in the third and added a solo home run in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead.The 

The Jaguars answered in the seventh as Ayellad Howard singled, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Chesney Miles, and advanced to third on a single from Roberts. Candence Winder then laid down a bunt single to bring home the tying run and force extra innings.

The game remained tied until the 11th, when North Georgia plated three runs on a triple, RBI single, and double. Augusta was unable to respond in the bottom half.

Roberts finished 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Howard added two hits and a run, and Winder, Peyton Terrell, Sophie  Baker, and Nevaeh Ross each recorded a hit. Ansley Gibson pitched 10.0 innings, allowing five earned runs on 14 hits. Madalyn Spinks threw the 11th in relief.

Game 2: North Georgia 6, Augusta 0

North Georgia scored in five of the first five innings and held Augusta scoreless in the second game of the day. The Jaguars were limited to four hits: singles from Howard, Roberts (2), and Kaylynn Scaffe.

Spinks started in the circle and went the distance, allowing 13 hits and six runs (three earned) with no walks. Augusta committed three errors and left six runners on base.

Roberts finished the day 6-for-8 with a home run, double, and two RBIs.
