Augusta, Ga. - It won't be long now, the Augusta baseball team will be back on the diamond with the start of fall practice and a few scrimmages. Coach
Chris Howell enters his 10th year at the helm of the program and is ready to get rolling with the team.
Practice officially starts Sept. 24 and there are three scrimmages planned. On Oct. 4, they will take on Gordon College in a doubleheader on the road. That will be followed by a home scrimmage against Southern Wesleyan Oct. 17 and one more against South Georgia Oct. 24.
While there has been individual workouts in the batting cage and on the diamond, there has been a lot of focus to better themselves off the field.
"It has been nice to get back on the field and go to work with this group," said Howell. "We have focused on our strength and conditioning with our new strength and conditioning coach
Jacob Topple and our individual development to get ready for fall practice on September 24th. This group has been focused from the first day and look forward to watching this group improve."
The Jaguars annual intersquad scrimmages called the "Blood Series" will be held Oct. 30, Nov. 3 and Nov. 7.
