AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University women's track & field athlete Gabrielle Jourdain and men's track & field athlete Avery Jaynes have been named the Georgia's Own Student-Athletes of the Month for March. The Georgia's Own Student-Athlete of the Month Award honors one male and one female Augusta University student-athlete from an in-season sport for their hard work, effort and standout performances throughout the month.

Gabrielle Jourdain – Women's Track & Field
Jourdain, a freshman from Sandy Run, S.C., turned in a historic month of March for the Jaguars, highlighted by her performance at the Raleigh Relays. She recorded a time of 35:48.62 in the 10,000 meters, breaking the previous Peach Belt Conference all-time record and now ranking second in conference history. Jourdain's mark stands among the top performances in NCAA Division II this season. The reigning Peach Belt Conference Freshman Track Athlete of the Year also opened the outdoor season with a strong showing in the 5,000 meters, finishing 11th at the Yellow Jacket Invitational with a time of 17:31.97.

Avery Jaynes – Men's Track & Field
Jaynes, a graduate student from Brooklet, Ga., continued his strong distance campaign during the month of March, competing against deep fields at both the Yellow Jacket Invitational and Raleigh Relays. At the Peach Belt Conference Indoor Championships, Jaynes captured the 5,000-meter title with a championship meet record time of 14:31.77 and added a runner-up finish in the 3,000 meters (8:13.39), earning All-Conference honors in both events. He remained a key contributor to Augusta's distance group as the Jaguars transitioned into the outdoor season.
