ANDERSON, S.C. – The Augusta University baseball team captured a second nonconference midweek road win with a dominant 16-1 rout of Anderson.
The Jaguars are now 20-18 on the season. Anderson falls to 19-22 overall.
Augusta jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the second inning. After an error from the Trojan's third base plated
Trevor Maddox,
Harrison Aulds blasted a bases-loaded homer over the left center wall for a 5-0 Augusta lead.
In the next inning,
Koby Ayala's 2 RBI single and Aulds 2 RBI double extended the lead to 9-0.
Rushton Bowles would open the fourth inning with a triple to right field. After a subsequent walk and an Anderson pitching change, a single from Maddox scored Bowles. After an added hit by pitch run,
Pat Galvin doubled to right field for another two Augusta scores.
Anderson's sole run came in the fifth inning.
Augusta wasn't done yet, extending the lead to 16-1 with three additional runs in the seventh inning. Sac flys from Ayala and
Jared Martin to right field wrapped Jaguars scoring.
For the game, Aulds went 2-for-2 with 6 RBI and a home run to lead AU.
Kyle Lodise went 2-for-3 with 2 runs.
Parker Ingram was 2-for-5 with 2 runs while
Mike Morrison was 2-for-4. Galvin, Bowles, Maddox, and Ayala also registered hits in the victory
Jasper Dubberly got the start for Augusta, allowing 1 hit in his 2 innings. Cody Sheider pitched the next 3 innings in relief, earning his first win of the season. He allowed 3 hits for 1 run while striking out 2.
Brandon Byler and
Aedan Cates combined for the final 4 innings.
