CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Augusta University men's track & field competed at the Lee Fast Break Athletics Invitational April 10-11, highlighted by a record-setting performance from Gabriel Best in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Best broke the all-time Peach Belt Conference record in the steeplechase with a time of 9:03.29, finishing third overall and reaching the NCAA Division II provisional standard.
Augusta also posted a podium finish in the 10,000 meters, where Nasrudin Mohamed placed third in 29:49.33, also meeting the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard.
Jordan Robertson added a time of 30:59.04 in the 10,000 meters, followed by Eli Corn (31:14.80), Caleb Darsey (31:25.48), Elijah Fitts (32:48.10), and Sam Segrist (34:14.53).
In the 5,000 meters, Andrew Helfers led the Jaguars with a time of 15:05.51, followed closely by Oscar Curry in 15:08.36. Carter Dehnke (16:13.17) and Connor Mumford (16:13.80) also competed.
David Garcia paced Augusta in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:03.96, while Landon Amos finished in 4:14.60.
Shahzeb Rashid also competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, recording a time of 10:30.07.
Augusta will continue its outdoor season April 16-17 at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
