AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head softball coach Melissa Brocato has announced the hiring of Taylor Senter as the program's new assistant coach.
Senter joins Augusta after serving as an assistant coach at Transylvania University during the 2024 season, helping lead the team to a 35-10 record and an NCAA Regional Tournament appearance. Under her guidance, Transylvania posted a .324 team batting average and had three players earn NFCA All-Region honors.
"I am very excited to have Coach Senter joining our staff," Brocato said. "She was a standout to the search committee and the team during the interview process. I think she'll bring new energy, ideas, and perspective, and she already fits in great with our other coaches. She'll mainly work with outfield, slappers, and hitters but will help with most all aspects of the job on and off the field."
A standout player at Transylvania, Senter was a five-year member of the softball program and a four-year starter in the outfield. She was a three-year team captain, holding a career .395 batting average, and posted a career-high .440 average with 22 doubles and four home runs in 2021. She earned NFCA All-Region honors that season and helped lead her team to two NCAA Regional Tournament appearances (2019, 2023), five consecutive HCAC regular-season titles, and two conference tournament championships.
"First, I want to say thank you to Coach Brocato and the entire AU athletic staff for this opportunity. I am blessed to be working beside such an amazing group of people," Senter said. "I knew that this is where I wanted to be as soon as I met the coaching staff and team—they made me feel welcome and right at home. I am ready to get this spring season started with the team and help them reach the goals they have set for themselves for the upcoming season ahead. I am excited for this opportunity and to help contribute to a well-established program."
Senter earned her bachelor's degree in biology from Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky.
Augusta starts its season Feb 1 at North Greenville before it home opener Feb 2 against Catawba.
